Use your KUSD username and password to log in to OWA.
You have to change your password about ever 120 days (3 times each year).
For one-click access, add a button link to the Bookmark Bar (Safari or Firefox) or Favorites Bar (Internet Explorer). In the address bar (URL) point to the icon on the far left. Click, hold, and drag the icon to any place in the Bookmark/Favorites bar.
You don't need to create contacts for KUSD employees. You can simply type their name in the To:, CC:, or BCC: line, and then click the Check Names icon to have OWA search the Global Address List.
Create contacts for people who are not KUSD employees or for KUSD employees for whom you'd want to save more information like their telephone number and street address.
You can create a distribution list, also know as a group, for addressing emails to groups of people to whom to frequently send emails. Distribution lists come in handy for grade level or department colleagues, parents, committees, etc.
To address an email message, enter the person's name or email address or the name of a distribution list in the To:, CC:, or BCC: line. There are several ways to go about this which are explained in this step guide.
Although OWA does not have a spelling checker, your Internet browser can be set to check spelling.
To attach a document to an email:
After starting a new email message, click the Add Attachment button in the tool bar. On a PC, OWA opens a pop-up window, so pop-ups need to be enabled for the site. On a Mac, OWA switches to a new window.
Click the Browse button . Navigate to the file, select it, and click Open.
Click the Attach button .
The file name appears in the "Current file attachments" window.
If you change your mind about attaching a file, click the check box next to the file name in the Current file attachments" window and click the Remove button .
PC's: Close the "Attachments -- Webpage Dialog" window.
Mac's: Click either Send or Go Back To Message.
When the email is ready, click Send.
Viewing, Organizing, and Removing Emails
The Inbox, Drafts, and Sent Items windows are arranged in columns. You can sort the emails by clicking any of the column headings and clicking a heading a second time reverses the order. For instance, clicking from in the Inbox will sort the emails by sender in A-Z order. Clicking it again will arrange them in Z-A order.
You can also sort email messages by clicking the View drop-down menu.
You can organize emails you need to keep by saving them in a folder; however, understand that emails saved in OWA folders are part of your email quota (see below).

Email Quotas
From TechMail Issue # 50, October 2009: Information Services is implementing two email quotas:
Email quotas allow us to manage the storage size of the district’s email. Storage is not unlimited so we must be efficient with our use of storage. To this end, Information Services will be implementing two email quotas beginning Sunday, November 1st, 2009.
The first quota is “number of items”. The total count of items in your mailbox will not be able to exceed 10,000. Your mailbox is made up of your Deleted Items, Inbox, Sent Items and Calendar. If the number of items in your mailbox approaches 10,000 you will receive a message notifying you to reduce the number of items. Should the number of items reach 10,000 you will no longer be able to send mail until the number of items falls below 10,000.
The second quota is “storage size”. The total storage size of your mailbox will not be able to exceed 500 Mb. Should the storage size approach 500 Mb you will receive a message notifying you to reduce the size of your mailbox. Should the storage size reach 500 Mb you will no longer be able to send mail until the storage size falls below 500 Mb.
To learn how to manage mailbox size, go to Advisor > Documentation. In the Electronic Mail section, click the link "How to maintain Mailbox Size".
